Privacy Policy · Scroll The Gita

The short version

Almost everything you do in Scroll The Gita stays on your phone. We have no accounts and no logins, we show no ads, we run no tracking or analytics, and we never sell your data. The only time information leaves your device is when you use the AI "Ask the Guide" feature, submit an organization suggestion, or subscribe to Gita Plus — each explained below.

This policy explains what Scroll The Gita ("the App", "we", "us") does and does not collect. Scroll The Gita is operated by Triangle IT Solutions LLC, a company based in Arizona, USA. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. What stays on your device

The App is offline-first. The following are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us or anyone else:

Your saved verses (favorites) and collections
Your reflections and journal entries
Your reading streak, progress, and last-read verse
Your settings, language, theme, and playback preferences
The verse shown by your home-screen widget
Your daily reminder — scheduled as a local notification on your device (we do not use push notifications and hold no push token)

If you delete the App, this on-device data is removed with it. We cannot recover it, because we never had a copy.

2. What leaves your device

a. AI features — "Ask the Guide" and "Apply to my life"

When you ask a question or request an AI reflection on a verse, the App sends the following to our server (api.scrollthegita.app):

The verse you're reading (its reference) and the type of request (e.g. a plain explanation, an "apply to my life" reflection, or your own typed question)
Your typed question text, when you use "Ask the Guide"
A random device identifier we generate on your device — used only to apply free-tier limits and prevent abuse. It is not your Apple advertising ID and is not linked to your name or identity.
An anonymous subscription identifier (only if you have Gita Plus), so we can confirm your subscription is active

Our server sends the verse and your question to Anthropic, our AI provider, which generates the answer. To keep the service fast and affordable, answers may be cached on our server. We do not use your questions to build a profile of you or to identify you, and we do not sell them.

Please don't include sensitive personal information (health details, financial data, anything you wouldn't want processed by a third-party AI service) in your questions to the guide.

b. Organization suggestions (optional)

The Community section lets you suggest a charitable organization for a future giving feature. If you choose to submit one, the organization name and description you type are sent to our server for review. This is entirely optional. We are not currently collecting donations of any kind, and submitting a suggestion is not a payment or a pledge.

c. Gita Plus subscriptions

If you subscribe to Gita Plus, the purchase is handled by Apple through your Apple ID, and subscription status is managed for us by RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (active or not) tied to an anonymous identifier — we never see or store your payment card, Apple ID password, or billing details.

3. What we do NOT collect

No accounts. There is no sign-up, login, name, or email required to use the App.
No advertising. We show no ads and use no ad networks or advertising identifiers.
No tracking or analytics. We do not embed third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
No device permissions we don't need. We do not access your location, contacts, microphone, camera, or photo library. Sharing a verse uses your device's standard share sheet, which you control.
No data sales. We do not and will not sell your personal information.

4. Service providers we rely on

We share the limited data described above only with providers that help us run the App:

These providers process data under their own privacy policies and only as needed to provide their service to us.

5. Children's privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information through the AI feature, contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your choices and rights

On-device data: you control it entirely. Clearing it or deleting the App removes it.
AI data: simply don't use the AI features if you prefer nothing leave your device. Everything else in the App works fully offline.
Access, deletion, and other requests: because we hold almost no personal data and no account, there is usually nothing tied to your identity to retrieve. If you have a request or question under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, contact us and we will help. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

7. Data security and location

Data in transit to our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Our server and the providers above are based in or operate from the United States, so if you use the AI feature from outside the U.S., your question may be processed there. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold minimal by design.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and post the new version here. Significant changes will be reflected in the App.
